Dear
reader
2010 was a turbulent and challenging
year for AC International Child Support. We experienced ups and
downs on various levels of our activities. At the end of the day
(the end of 2010) we must say, that despite the challenges, we did
good in 2010!
We obtained the approval from the
Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue our development work
with a programme agreement for the coming three years; we managed
to maintain our adoption
mediation work at a somewhat satisfactory level and we maintained
and expanded - despite the economical crisis - our sponsorship
programme on the expected level.
We were happy to see the products of
our efforts realized in very many areas, as you will see in the
following report. At the same time we would have liked to see more
potential adoptive parents join our organization, we would have
liked to see more sponsors, we would have liked to do even more
preventive work in our countries of cooperation. We believe that we
shall be able to attract the sponsors and donors, but we are more
preoccupied as regards the prospective adoptive parents, who seem
to have been scared off from the idea of adoption, probably based
on global criticism of adoption and a misinterpreted idea that
there should be fewer children in need of adoption on the global
level. We shall continue to work intensely on every child's right
to be someone's son or daughter, preferably in his or her
biological family or alternatively in an adoptive family in the
years to come.
In 2010 we set extra focus on our
partnerships - with our "old" and highly valued partners as well as
our new and hopefully long-lasting partnerships.
Many regards
Anders
